Royalty and Payout FAQ — How Creators Get Paid

Published 21 April 2026 · 7 min read

Quick answer. Standard rev-share is 70% creator / 30% platform. Founding creators (first 500 published skills) get 80/20 for life. Payouts run monthly via Stripe Connect, seven days after close of month. Refunds and chargebacks net against the current cycle. Tax is the creator’s responsibility; we issue 1099 / equivalent where required.

What’s the revenue share?

Standard: 70% to the creator, 30% to the platform. The platform share covers hosting, payment processing, safety review, catalogue placement, and support.

Is there a founding-creator bonus?

Yes. The first 500 skills published receive an 80/20 rev-share for the lifetime of the skill. This is a permanent benefit, not time-limited — your year-five earnings on a founding skill are still 80/20.

How often do I get paid?

Monthly. Payouts run 7 days after the close of each calendar month, once accrued earnings clear the £20 minimum. Below £20, earnings roll into the next cycle.

Which payment rails are supported?

Stripe Connect, wherever Stripe supports payouts to creators (120+ countries). For markets Stripe does not cover, we offer PayPal as a fallback with a marginally lower fee share. Bank-to-bank wire is available for larger creators on request.

Tax — who handles what?

The creator is responsible for their income tax and any VAT / GST on their revenue share. The platform handles the buyer-side VAT at purchase and remits it correctly. Creators in the US, UK, EU, and several other jurisdictions get automated tax forms (1099-K, equivalent) above the reporting threshold.

What happens when a skill is refunded?

Refunds reverse the payout proportionally. If the refund window is open when the refund is requested, the rev-share nets against your current-cycle earnings. If the refund happens after payout, the adjustment applies to the next cycle (and we absorb the float).

Chargebacks?

Same principle — the chargeback amount is deducted from current-cycle earnings. We contest chargebacks on your behalf where the purchase was clearly legitimate. Repeated chargeback victims get a higher level of support.

What if a skill is removed?

Two cases:

  • You remove it. Earnings up to the removal date are paid out as normal. Users who previously bought it keep access under the original terms; they just cannot reinstall on a new robot.
  • We remove it for policy violation. Earnings up to the removal are held pending appeal for 30 days. If the violation stands, user refunds may apply and the payout is reduced accordingly. If the appeal succeeds, the skill is reinstated and earnings pay out normally.

Can I change the price mid-sale?

Yes. Price changes apply going forward. Users who already bought at the old price keep their lifetime-access under that price (for one-off skills); subscribers on a grandfathered price keep it for 12 months before being migrated.

Subscription economics — how are payouts calculated?

Subscription revenue accrues pro-rata per day. A user on a £4.99/month subscription from 2026-04-15 to 2026-05-15 contributes ~16 days to April and ~15 days to May. Your payout reflects the accrued portion.

What counts as “verified creator”?

Verified creators have completed ID verification (passport or national ID) and Stripe Connect onboarding. Verification is a one-time step and takes 5-15 minutes. Unverified creators can publish but cannot receive payouts until verified.

What happens if a buyer disputes a skill as “not as described”?

The dispute goes through the GeraNexus dispute flow. We review the listing, the skill behaviour in simulation, the user’s evidence, and the signed transaction record. If the dispute is upheld, refund applies. If not, the purchase stands. Creators can appeal.

Can I collaborate with other creators?

Yes. Multi-creator skills split the creator share proportionally based on declared shares at publish-time. Splits are per-skill (not per-creator-account), so you can have different splits on different skills.

Do I get analytics?

Yes — installs, active users, subscription renewals, refund rate, rating trends, support-ticket volume, all on your creator dashboard.

What’s the minimum payout?

£20 or local equivalent. Below this, earnings accrue and roll forward.
